The buildings pictured had been constructed without the use of proper moisture barriers and flashing details. During rain events, the occupant had to place buckets to catch the water coming into the office space in the front of the building. In severe events the amount of water entering the building would overwhelm all efforts to contain the water.
ACON products to the rescue! An option to remedy the building's issues without removing the brick exteriors and the moisture barriers was offered. The alternative would have been to remove the brick veneers and to install the moisture barriers and flashing. ACON Deep Seal was applied, the brick was then cleaned and then ACON Lustermax Plus was applied.
Deep Seal permanently stops the moisture migration in the Portland used to assemble the brick. Lustermax Plus is a combination of a water-based polymer and a multi-cross linker combined in one product. Luster Max Plus has electrometric properties and is an extremely good sealer with a long useful life. Both products allow the masonry to breathe which is essential in this application.
These photos were taken right after rain from a hurricane that had moved through the Atlanta area. Building 3764 had been sealed with ACON products and to date has no leaks. As you can see in the picture it is dry, unlike building 3760 which had not been sealed.
This commercial building started having severe efflorescence issues soon after completion. The owner needed to remove the white deposit on the building before he could lease the building. More importantly, the cause needed to be corrected to prevent the issue from coming back.
The discoloration originated from the precast banding and left a residue on the face of the brick below. This discoloration (efflorescence) originated from the unused calcium chloride / free alkali in the precast. The Deep Seal penetrated deeply into the cast stone, converted the unused Portland into a calcium silicate hydrate gel, permanently stopping the migration of moisture and efflorescence coming from the precast. The precast was first Deep Sealed, cleaned, the efflorescence removed from the brick. The precast then received an application of the Surface Seal.
The building is now efflorescence-free.
In this photo, Deep Seal has been applied to limestone, stucco, precast, concrete, concrete pavers and PebbleTec. All surfaces will be enhanced, require less maintenance, and endure less stress from the elements.
This Hilton Head home having a beachfront location was constantly subject to weather coming in off of the ocean. The combination of wind and rain proved to be more than the traditional stucco could handle. Moisture intrusion into the home called for immediate measures to be taken to correct the issue. An application of Deep Seal was applied to the home permanently stopping the transfer of moisture in the hard coat. Benefits include:
This green house was constructed from 100+ year old wood taken from an old pencil factory in Atlanta, GA. The owner and Interior Decorator wanted to keep the natural aspects of the wood, but needed to protect it from the elements.
The house was treated with WP-200. The product's attributes are permanent insect and water protection. WP-200 is also a class A fire retardant, and as with all of our products is environmentally safe. The wood will gray naturally without suffering effects of the wood swelliing and shrinking from getting wet and then drying. It will also be preserved from insects.
Efflorescence showed itself early in the construction of these stucco walls. ACON Deep Seal was applied and the efflorescence removed. The problem never resurfaced.
This is a plant egg laying facility in South Florida. The plant being only 100 yards or so from swamp land has always had a problem with wet concrete floors. The floors were pulling the moisture up trough the concrete slab (water vapor drive). In addition to high moisture levels the accidental broken eggs on the floor every day, the plant had the smell of rotten eggs.
All of the work was preformed at night and took several days. The morning after the Deep Seal application was the first morning the employees had even experienced the floors dry. Even in the coolers with the temperatures at a constant 40 degrees or so the usually wet floors were dry the next morning.
The Deep Seal permanently stopped the moisture migration in the slab and purged the contaminants from the floors. The plant floors then received an application of ACON Lustermax. The water vapor dive problem is a thing of the past and so is the rotten eggs smell.
Shot Crete applications such as pool shells can be enhanced by either using the ACON Alpha Mix in the concrete or by using the Deep Seal after the installation.
The result will be a pool shell that will not transfer moisture in any direction, protect the rebar from rusting; increase the flexural, tensile and compressive strengths, help control efflorescence and increase the adhesion of the PebbleTec or plaster.
If the Deep Seal is used as a cure after the PebbleTec or plaster is installed spikes in the pool water PH will be reduced or eliminated.
